The October school break (semana de receso, a one-week school holiday) is the odd one out in the Colombian calendar: there is a week off, but it is not declared peak season. Occupancy rises and prices move much less than during Semana Santa (Holy Week, the week before Easter and the busiest week of the year) or the year-end holidays. If you can travel without school-age children, it is the best combination of price and weather in the second half of the year for renting a finca, a country house you rent whole, usually with a pool, for a group or a family.
Why prices don't spike

During the school break, it is mainly families with children in school who travel, and many of them stay within their own region. Demand is lower and more spread out, so owners have nothing to justify a puente festivo rate with. October is one of the two rainfall peaks of the year in central Colombia. The second rainy season runs from October to November. The pool plan can shrink to two hours a day.
That has a practical consequence for your search: the finca that works in October is not the one with the best pool but the one with the best covered area. A kiosco (an open-sided thatched or roofed shelter), a large living room, a covered dining area. Asking how many square meters are under a roof sounds odd, and it avoids the problem.
