How to get around on event days
The Desfile de Silleteros, the parade of flower growers carrying huge flower arrangements on their backs, closes roads and overwhelms public transportation. People who have done it before go in early, leave the car in a fixed parking lot downtown or in El Poblado and get around by metro. Trying to drive up to the parade route ends in two lost hours.
What they won't tell you
Western Antioquia is truly hot. Santa Fe de Antioquia and Sopetrán are pool destinations, not convenient urban bases. After a full day at the festival, driving back forty minutes to a house where it is still 30 °C (86 °F) at ten at night doesn't suit everyone.
